3's &4's3 Year Old Program Our 3 year old program stresses independence, accepting responsibility, and learning to get along with other children in a group situation. Our children are encouraged to develop and to mature physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Each child shall begin learning to recognize his or her name, as well as how to print it. Letters and numbers will be learned through daily lessons. Cutting skills will play a part of this curriculum. Toward the latter part of the year, the 3 Year Olds begin to get sight words to enhance their reading skills. We do offer a 3 Year Old Enrichment class that meets once a week on Thursday. This program concentrates on social skills, academic skills, cooking, and playtime. 4 Year Old Program Ivy League has an incredible 4 Year Old program. Our teachers are instructed to follow an academic yet socially developmental curriculum. Each week brings new challenges of a letter, its sound, how to use it through pictures, and eventually printing the letter the proper way. We always teach letter writing from the top down. Handwriting is an integral part of this program. We believe that children should be taught the correct way and practice through handwriting papers. When the week does not introduce a letter, a number will be taught. That week will consist of working creatively with that number. Sight words are quickly introduced to each child. Within a few weeks, sentences with these sight words are displayed on the classroom’s blackboard. Our 4 Year Olds will have the opportunity to come out reading and forming their own sentences. We also offer a 4 Year Old Enrichment Class that meets once a week on Thursday. This class will concentrate on academics, cooking, Spanish every other week, and playtime.
